CMS Advises in Austria’s Largest Private Equity Transaction in 2017:
TowerBrook Capital Partners Acquires Schweighofer Fiber
Following the transaction closing on 12 September 2017, TowerBrook Capital Partners is the new owner of Salzburg-based Schweighofer Fiber GmbH. While the financial terms were not disclosed, the transaction seems to be the largest private equity deal in Austria of the current year. The CMS team in Vienna comprising experts from several practice areas significantly contributed to the success of the deal.
Schweighofer Fiber, a fibre manufacturer based in Hallein, was part of the Schweighofer Group, one of the most experienced enterprises in the wood industry, and ranks among the most profitable top 250 industrial companies in Austria. For TowerBrook Capital Partners, an international investment management firm, the acquisition of Schweighofer Fiber further expands their portfolio. Against the backdrop of Schweighofer Fiber’s consistent strong performance, TowerBrook plans to further extend its production capacities.
The CMS team led by partner Clemens Grossmayer was made up of attorneys-at-law Anna Wieser and Daniel Courtney (M&A), Anna Konopka (attorney-at-law, financing), Dieter Zandler (partner, competition law), partner Robert Keisler and associate Molly Kos (public law) as well as partner Jens Winter and associate Dominik Stella (labour law).
The seller was advised by Schönherr Rechtsanwälte.
