Caution! New Generic Top Level Domains Quickly ensure that no abuse of your brand exists
On Wednesday 13th June 2012, ICANN, the organisation responsible for allocation of Top Level Domains such as .com or .org, published the list for registration of new generic Top Level Domains. The objection period is now open for seven months. Whether you have applied for a new generic Top Level Domain or not, you should in any case glance at this list to ensure that no abuse of your brand or company identifier has taken place.
The list of the registrations for new generic Top Level Domains can be viewed here: http://newgtlds.icann.org/en/program-status/application-results/strings-1200utc-13jun12-en
What we can do for you:
- We can – by means of your brand portfolio, for example – check whether direct abuse or an indirect danger to your trademark rights exists;
- We can offer assistance in dealing with new Top Level Domains which are likely to threaten your trademark rights;
