David Kohl is a lawyer in the Corporate Transactions department. Prior to joining CMS in 2018, he worked for a renowned Austrian commercial law firm for two years, focusing on insolvency and restructuring law. He also gained diverse professional experience as an associate at an international accounting and tax firm (Big Four) and as a university assistant at King’s College London, where he graduated in the top one percent of all students in 2013 with a degree in economics. In 2015, he completed his law studies at Karl Franzens University Graz and Esade Law School in Barcelona (Erasmus). Kohl is also admitted as a solicitor in England/Wales.

Our English Law Team focuses on English law governing finance and corporate/M&A transactions as well as dispute resolution. The team consists of highly qualified lawyers, among them CMS partners Marcell Clark, Alexander Rakosi and David Kohl as well as solicitor Anna Freund. Marcell Clark (Banking & Finance), Alexander Rakosi and David Kohl (both Corporate/M&A) and their teams have extensive expertise in advising on banking and finance as well as corporate/M&A transactions governed by English law, regularly working on some of the most important deals in the region. Anna Freund is an expert qualified in English law with extensive experience in handling litigation and arbitration in various industries. CMS Restructuring Talk: Re­struk­tur­i­er­ungs­ver­fahren - Quo vadis?
Die sehr turbulenten und von viel Unsicherheit geprägten letzten Jahre haben zahlreiche Branchen schwer belastet und führten zu finanziellen Schwierigkeiten bei vielen Unternehmen. Trotz un­ter­schied­lich­er staatlicher Un­ter­stützungs­maß­nah­men sind einige dadurch in eine handfeste Krise ger­utscht. Re­struk­tur­i­er­ungen rücken daher immer mehr in den Fokus. Anders als dies in anderen europäischen Ländern der Fall ist, haben gerichtliche Re­struk­tur­i­er­ungs­ver­fahren nach der ReO bisher in der ös­ter­reichis­chen Praxis jedoch noch keine praktische Relevanz als Instrument zur Beseitigung von Un­ternehmenskris­en gefunden.
