Pieter specialises in corporate and insolvency law. He advises national and international clients on all aspects of corporate and insolvency law, with a particular focus on directors’ liability and shareholders disputes. He also assists clients in judicial reorganisations and bankruptcies. Pieter is involved in several major proceedings before national courts and international arbitration tribunals.

Relevant experience

  • Advising and assisting clients with regard to various aspects of company law (establishment of companies and branches, corporate housekeeping, directors’ liability, etc.)
  • Advising clients on (cross-border) restructuring operations
  • Assisting clients with precautionary measures in the event of liquidation or bankruptcy
  • Debt collection and goods recovery
  • Assisting clients in financial difficulties in national and cross-border judicial reorganisations and bankruptcies
  • Assisting curators in cross-border bankruptcies
  • Assisting various clients with the termination of major contracts with their main suppliers in the context of judicial reorganisation and bankruptcies
  • Director’s liability claims (both plaintiff and defendant)
  • Litigation before arbitral tribunals (ICC, DIS) or ordinary Belgian courts (e.g. squeeze outs, R&R infringement proceedings, general civil and commercial disputes)
  • Coordination of criminal and civil proceedings regarding white-collar crime (director’s liability in bankrupt companies, disputes regarding the appointment of ad hoc management bodies)
