Rio de Janeiro

Rio de Janeiro is the centre of Brazil’s oil and gas industry and a key regional hub for other energy, natural resources and infrastructure companies. The city also hosted the 2016 Olympic & Paralympic Games, which brought a whole range of investment to the country.

As the longest established international law firm in Rio de Janeiro, CMS Brazil advises both international and Brazilian organisations in the oil and gas sector, as well as mining, shipbuilding and telecommunications companies, insurers, financial institutions and funds. Our lawyers are ideally located to support inward and outward investments, and the international legal needs of Brazilian clients.

With our sector-focused approach, we take care to understand our clients’ commercial drivers and offer much more than just technical legal services, including advice on market practice, negotiating positions and risk assessment.

Our Rio de Janeiro office also provides a base for our Latin America practice, coordinating CMS’ services across the region. All of our lawyers in Brazil are fluent in Portuguese and English, and services from our team in Rio de Janeiro can also be provided in French and Spanish.
