18/05/2010

CMS Cameron McKenna v.o.s. in Prague has secured Tomas Krutak, one of the most experienced M&A and PPP lawyers in the Czech market. Tomas joins the CMS Prague office as a partner and the head of the Corporate team, which now comprises 15 lawyers.

Helen Rodwell, Head of CEE Corporate comments, “We are acknowledged as having the best M&A practice in the Czech market which enables us to attract talent such as Tomas. Our existing team also has a unique expertise in PPP – Tomas is one of the few senior lawyers in the market who shares such expertise and is therefore an ideal addition. We have the M&A and PPP market in Prague cornered now.”

Tomas Krutak comments, “As a cutting edge firm, I was drawn to CMS Prague by a combination of factors; the firm’s impressive client base, its long-standing reputation for excellence in M&A and PPP, and its commitment to client care. There is no comparable law firm in CEE. I am delighted to be on board.”

Tomas has led teams of lawyers advising both Czech and foreign investors in relation to acquisitions in the Czech Republic, including private equity, and other countries within the CEE region. Notably, Tomas has also advised a major construction group on all aspects related to their participation in pilot PPP projects in the Czech Republic.

Prior to joining CMS Cameron McKenna, Tomas was a partner at international law firm Balcar Polanský Eversheds where he worked for more than 8 years and was responsible for the firm’s corporate practice. He graduated from Masaryk University Law School and speaks fluent English, German and Russian. Tomas has authored several publications on PPPs and public procurement and has also run a series of lectures and speeches on the same topics for the Czech and Slovak Ministries of Finance as well as private institutions.

CMS Cameron McKenna has been a pioneer in developing legal services within the CEE region for the last two decades. Currently, the firm has offices in Bucharest, Budapest, Kyiv, Prague, Sofia and Warsaw, and in January 2009, CMS Cameron McKenna in Moscow merged with CMS Bureau Francis Lefevbre and CMS Hasche Sigle to create the CMS Russia, the largest law firm in Russia, with over 90 lawyers.

CMS has been repeatedly recognised with top industry awards. Recently, these include '2010 Mid-Market Legal Advisors of the Year' by leading M&A publication Acquisitions Monthly and ‘CEE Law Firm of the Year’ by PLC Which lawyer? 2010.
