Berlin – CMS Germany has taken first place in the Business Development category at the 8th PMN Management Awards. Thomas Glaesmann, managing partner of CMS in Duesseldorf, accepted the award at the PMN Award Gala in Frankfurt. The award recognises the innovative "Deployment of external personnel" (FPE) product developed by a team of employment lawyers and specialists from Central Management at CMS Germany. This IT-based tool enables employment lawyers and HR managers to assess the deployment of external/freelance personnel within the organisation in order to help ensure compliance with legal requirements.
The five-member jury summed up its decision as follows: "CMS has developed an online browser-based solution whereby legal issues are not viewed in isolation but embedded in a wider solution. The questions are validated on the basis of more than 1,000 real-life cases, which allows for dynamic responses. FPE is especially innovative in two respects. Firstly, CMS has made further progress in establishing a product-based approach. Secondly, a joint development team consisting of partners from different practice areas developed the solution in conjunction with IT and marketing experts."
The firm's ability to develop innovative IT-supported products has resulted in this conspicuous success, of which the CMS team can be rightly proud. CMS sets a new standard in legal advice with its digital 'Deployment of external personnel (FPE)' tool. The tool is already being used successfully by our clients. The PMN Award confirms our decision to continue driving forward LawTech development. It also demonstrates how efficiently expert legal advice and IT can be combined.

Employment lawyers Thomas Glaesmann (Duesseldorf) and Dr Alexander Bissels (Cologne) headed the development team as lead partners. "We are delighted that our firm has been recognised in this way, and especially the work of the highly committed team. Our objective right from the start was to adopt a proactive approach to addressing the needs of our clients' companies via IT-based tools, providing management with technology that delivers real cost benefits," said Thomas Glaesmann. "Statutory requirements are subject to constant change and are becoming increasingly complicated. That leads to a corresponding increase in the time companies need to spend on reviewing cases," added Dr Alexander Bissels. "As such, IT-based support saves HR management a considerable amount of time, which is a major benefit. Spurred on by this success, CMS will continue to pursue innovation." The enthusiastic development team also included Amelie Schäfer and Kira Falter (both Employment Law) and Eric Loewenthal (Products).
The PMN Management Awards have been recognising managing partners and business service specialists within commercial law firms in Germany since 2009.
The awards cover six categories, with the finalists and winners being selected on the basis of projects submitted by law firms. A jury consisting of experienced business journalists, former managing partners and business service heads of law firms discusses all the entries and chooses the winners.
The aim of the PMN Management Awards is to support the development of management and business services in law firms and to highlight success stories.
