Hamburg - John Laing Group plc, the international originator, active investor and manager of infrastructure projects, has reached closing on the acquisition of shares in the offshore wind farm "Nordergründe" from wpd offshore GmbH.
A team from CMS Hasche Sigle's Hamburg office led by partner Dr Holger Kraft has advised John Laing, London, comprehensively in respect of all matters in relation to the acquisition of 30 percent of the shares in the project financed offshore wind farm "Nordergründe" from wpd offshore GmbH.
Nordergründe is a near-shore park and located just 15 km from the island of Wangerooge within the 12 nautical mile zone of the German North Sea. The wind farm is already in the installation phase and supposed to start operation still this year. Last week the first Senvion turbine type 6.2M126 has been installed successfully. Near-shore windfarm Nordergründe is a unique project due to the fact that it is the first German offshore wind farm with works exclusively provided by companies established within Germany. Near-shore windfarm Nordergründe will consist of turbines from Senvion, foundations from Ambau, offshore substation from BVT, internal cabling from NSW and installation work will be done by Bilfinger.
wpd is responsible for the construction as well as the operation of the Nordergründe project. A total of 18 Senvion turbines type 6.2M126 will be erected in the estuary of the river Weser. The total capacity of the project is 110.7 Megawatt (MW). Hence, offshore wind farm Nordergründe will supply electricity for more than 100.000 households.
John Laing engages in the origination, investment, and management of infrastructure projects under governmental public-private partnership (PPP) programs and renewable energy projects in the United Kingdom, Europe, the Asia Pacific, and North America.
