CMS appoints three new partners at start of year

02/01/2019

Berlin – Commercial law firm CMS Germany is expanding its partnership at the start of the new year by appointing three new partners from the Competition & EU, Corporate/M&A and Dispute Resolution divisions at its Cologne, Hamburg and Stuttgart offices, respectively. “2018 was a successful year for CMS. The highly committed colleagues who are now moving up to partner contributed to that success. They have impressed with their excellent work over the years, and their appointment puts us in a stronger position going forward,” said Dr Hubertus Kolster, Managing Partner of CMS in Germany.

For the fifth time in a row, CMS took first place in the latest “Kanzleimonitor” survey, which is conducted annually by the German Federal Association of Corporate Lawyers (BUJ). The survey shows that CMS is still the law firm most frequently recommended by heads of in-house legal departments. “This excellent ranking confirms that our clients appreciate high-quality real-world advice which is tailored to their specific needs, against a backdrop of new legal and strategic challenges. Receiving this accolade provides an added incentive for us to drive innovation and further expand our strong market position in 2019 together with our new partners,” commented Dr Hubertus Kolster.

The new partners at CMS Germany:

Dr Daniel Otte (Corporate/M&A, Cologne) has been with CMS since 2010. He specialises in advising businesspersons in litigious corporate disputes. In addition, Daniel Otte supports his clients in all matters relating to corporate law structuring.

Christoff Soltau (Competition & EU, Hamburg) has been with CMS since 2011. He specialises in German and European competition law. His key areas of expertise include merger control and distribution/competition law. Christoff Soltau also regularly advises on competition law compliance, in particular with regard to structuring corporate alliances.

Dr Peter Wende (Dispute Resolution, Stuttgart) has been with CMS since 2010. He advises and represents clients in German and international arbitration proceedings and in disputes before German national courts. Peter Wende has particular experience in disputes arising from company purchase agreements and corporate law disputes, as well as matters relating to the liability of management boards, managing directors and company organs.
