Curetis receives loan from European Investment Bank with aid of CMS

16/12/2016

Munich – Biotech company Curetis has been granted a loan of EUR 25 million by the European Investment Bank (EIB). The financing is the first growth capital loan to be made under the European Growth Finance Facility, launched in November 2016. It will enable Curetis to fund the strategic expansion of its Unyvero diagnostic platform for infectious diseases. At the same time as obtaining the loan, Curetis also acquired the Gyronimo platform from Münster-based companies Systec and Carpegen. The Gyronimo platform is a prototype system that provides real-time genetic analysis during the treatment of patients. Curetis aims to fully integrate Gyronimo into its Unyvero platform.

CMS team headed by lead partner Stefan-Ulrich Müller advised Curetis on all legal aspects of the loan and on the acquisition of the Gyronimo platform. This is not the first time that Curetis has relied on the expertise of CMS lawyers – a team from CMS Germany and CMS Netherlands also advised Curetis in 2015 on its IPO on Euronext Amsterdam and Brussels.

Curetis is a molecular diagnostics company focusing on the development and commercialisation of products for diagnosis of severe infectious diseases in hospitals and large laboratories. The company was founded in 2007 and is based in Holzgerlingen, Baden-Württemberg. To date, Curetis has raised EUR 107.8 million in total via its IPO and from private equity funds. The debt capital financing facility of up to EUR 25 million from the EIB now increases the total further.
