Dr. Dorothee Ruckteschler new Head of CMS International Arbitration Group

15/01/2014

As of 1 January 2014, Dr Dorothee Ruckteschler, partner in CMS Germany, is the new Head of the CMS International Arbitration Group. She takes over the role from Dr Torsten Lörcher, who will now concentrate on his duties as Head of the CMS Dispute Resolution Practice Area Group, which includes the International Arbitration Group as a subgroup among its more than 300 specialist lawyers.

Dorothee Ruckteschler qualified as an attorney in 1983 and is recognised in Germany and internationally as a leading litigator and arbitrator. She founded CMS Germany’s Dispute Resolution Group and led the highly-regarded team for more than ten years. Her international experience includes playing a central role in CMS dispute resolution activities in mainland China and Hong Kong, and she was instrumental in CMS Germany joining the Arbitration Chambers Hong Kong in 2013.

In her new role, Dr Ruckteschler will focus on further developing the international arbitration expertise which CMS offers to clients. Dr Ruckteschler comments, “CMS is already an established leader in international arbitration and acts in a wide range of cross-border commercial and investment disputes. We are proud to be listed in the GAR 30 - Global Arbitration Review’s ranking of the world’s busiest international arbitration practices – and we aim to grow our practice further in line with client demand. Our specialists are well versed in the rules of all the leading international arbitral institutions and we will continue to take proactive steps to help deliver successful resolutions.”

CMS Germany’s Dispute Resolution Group will now be jointly led by partners Claus Thiery in Munich and Dr Matthias Schlingmann in Hamburg.
