RUAG acquires technology firm HTS with aid of CMS

Leipzig – RUAG Space, the aerospace division of international technology group RUAG Holding AG, has acquired technology firm Hoch Technologie Systeme GmbH (HTS), becoming the sole owner of the Saxony-based company. The merger with HTS gives RUAG better access to the German aerospace market.

A team from CMS Germany headed by M&A lawyers Dr Jörg Lips (lead partner) and Dr Katja Schönberger (project management) advised on all legal aspects of the transaction.

RUAG Holding AG is a Swiss technology group headquartered in Berne. It operates chiefly in the global markets for aviation and aerospace, defence and security, serving private and public sector customers. The company also has production facilities at seven German sites. RUAG has around 8,100 employees and generated sales of some CHF 1.74 billion in the 2015 financial year.

RUAG Space is the leading supplier of products for the space industry in Europe. It employs approximately 1,100 people at seven locations in Switzerland, Sweden and Austria, posting sales of CHF 322 million in 2014. RUAG Space's core business is the development and manufacture of components for satellites and launchers.

HTS currently has 32 employees. Established in 1996, the company specialises in development and engineering services as well as the manufacture of customised mechanical products for the aviation and aerospace industry. HTS has more than 20 years' experience in space projects and was involved in the German Champ and Grace satellite missions to explore the Earth's gravitational field, for example
