Jan Wölper specialises in advising and representing companies in the maritime industry. His clients include numerous leading container and tanker shipping companies, shipyards and marine insurers but also several logistics companies. His practice covers advising on shipbuilding and ship purchase contracts, charterparties as well as drafting contracts for transport and cargo-handling services. Jan is also very experienced in providing allround legal services to shipowners and insurers in case of marine accidents, including communication with every authority involved. Alongside his advisory practice, he regularly acts as an arbitrator, in particular in maritime disputes.

Jan was admitted as a lawyer in Hamburg in 1989 and practiced as a shipping lawyer with law firms in London, Oslo and Bangkok. Since 2001, he has been a partner with CMS.
