Marine Insurance

Back to Maritime

Comprehensive marine insurance is essential when operating and financing ships and carrying goods by sea. We support insurers, agents and policy holders in drafting the relevant contracts and in insurance disputes.

We also act on behalf of insurers, brokers and policy holders in matters relating to coverage, liability or claims for damages. We represent them in proceedings before courts or in arbitration proceedings and also deal with maritime fraud cases.

We are familiar with the standard insurance industry terms and conditions

We are very familiar with all standard terms and conditions used by the industry, including not only the customary German standard conditions (e.g. ADS, DTV) but also the English insurance conditions that are often relevant, plus the Norwegian Plan, for example.

We advise our clients on the following types of insurance, among others:

  • Protection and indemnity (P&I)
  • Hull and machinery
  • Loss of hire
  • Increased value
  • Cargo
  • Builders’ risks
  • Environmental liability
