CMS Bureau Francis Lefebvre advises the State of Côte d’Ivoire on the Abidjan light train concession

15/07/2015

On 6 July the government of Côte d’Ivoire entered into a concession agreement for the design, financing, construction and operation of the Abidjan Metro line 1 with a consortium formed by Dongsan Engineering, Bouygues, Kéolis and Hyundai Rotem.

Line 1 of the Abidjan Metro aims to ease traffic by offering fast, reliable and clean transportation to around 580,000 passengers per weekday over 37.5 kilometres of rails stretching across the city from North to South and connecting with the airport. Construction is scheduled to start in 2017 with phase 1 of the project operational in December 2019. The entire line should be fully operational in September 2020.

The state received legal counsel for drawing up the documents and negotiating the concession from Jean-Jacques Lecat, partner, joint leader of the Africa team at CMS Bureau Francis Lefebvre and, in Abidjan, by Karim Fadika partner in the law firm F.D.K.A.
