New Book Published On Economic Redundancies

19/11/2012

LexisNexis has published a collective work on economic redundancies entitled Le licenciement pour motif économique with a foreword by Bernard Teyssié, Professor at Université Panthéon Assas (Paris II) and Honorary University President. The new book was overseen by Arnaud Martinon, Professor at the Sorbonne School of Law (Paris I).

A number of legal experts were asked to contribute their analyses and to offer constructive suggestions on economic redundancies, a major topic in today’s business and employment news.

The authors address issues that are of key importance for companies in managing their employment and human resources strategies. These include:

  • Demonstrating a valid, serious reason for redundancies.
  • Determining the scope of the CEO’s obligation to find new jobs for employees, particularly in companies that are part of a Group.
  • Deciding whether to implement a voluntary departure plan or an economic redundancy plan.
  • Finding ways to limit the risk of collective and/or individual legal action so as to secure the procedures for carrying out economic redundancies.

CMS Bureau Francis Lefebvre Partner Laurent Marquet de Vasselot, one of the Employment Law Department's 65 specialised lawyers, is among the book’s co-authors.

In his contribution, Laurent Marquet de Vasselot focuses on issues relating to the role of company-wide negotiations and collective agreements, with a view to securing procedures for carrying out economic redundancies.
