Please note that the Aberdeen Round-up will now be held at The Mercure Aberdeen Ardoe House Hotel.

The CMS Employment team is delighted to invite you to our annual “Round-up” event for 2018 across five of our UK offices in London, Sheffield, Edinburgh, Glasgow and Aberdeen.

This year, in addition to key case law and other developments, we will be discussing fresh ideas on managing mental health in the workplace and tackling sexual harassment.

Our session on mental health will highlight how businesses need to take a holistic approach to mental health, involving a range of solutions. And, as the headlines continue to focus on sexual harassment in the workplace, we will share our thoughts on implementing a strategic response to this issue.

The seminars are free, although places are limited. Please feel free to circulate this invitation to any of your colleagues who may be interested in attending. You can click on the relevant link below to register your interest, and we will contact you to confirm your place.

Key cases and other developments

Disability discrimination, working time and the taxation of termination payments have all been in the spotlight recently. In this session, we will take you through the key employment law changes which should be on your radar this year.

Prevention is better than cure - managing mental health in the workplace

With the latest HSE statistics reporting that each year 12.5 million working days are lost due to work-related stress, depression or anxiety, which also account for 49% of sick days, there is a pressing need for organisations to examine how they manage mental health in the workplace. This session will focus on preventative approaches and the need to link this method into management culture.

Tackling workplace harassment – does your organisation measure up?

Could your organisation prove that it has taken appropriate action to prevent workplace harassment? In December 2017, the Chief Executive of the EHRC wrote to the Chairs of the FTSE 100 companies asking them this very question. In this session we will discuss how workplace behaviour has become a risk issue, and give some tips on potential solutions. These will inevitably involve making tough decisions in formal investigations, being able constructively to challenge inappropriate behaviour, and enabling a culture where people are able to speak out.
