Stricter FDI controls could make cross-border transactions and M&A more difficult and are being introduced in a number of jurisdictions across the world, as governments join a trend of wanting to review and control who invests in key strategic assets or businesses. It is a topical and controversial area which we are increasingly seeing in international transactions and which will impact on many sectors. What do you need to know?

We are hosting a seminar and panel session to discuss these developments and what this means for investment in the UK and Europe going forwards.

We are delighted that we will be joined by Sarah Mackintosh, the Deputy Director for National Security and Investment at BEIS, and Marta Busz, Economic and Trade Affairs Manager at the European Commission’s Trade directorate (who will join by videolink). Sarah will outline the UK proposals, following the publication of the UK’s White Paper last summer, and the likely implications of these changes for business, and Marta will provide an overview of the EU proposals, which are close to being formally adopted.

We will also be joined by an esteemed panel of industry experts who will share their views including:

  • Joanna Walker from IFM Investors
  • Robert Wall from Hermes Investment Management
