Urbanisation, new lifestyles, different work patterns and increasing mobility are changing our cities. What used to be referred to as 'generation rent' has become a phenomenon that goes well beyond a narrow demographic group. Not just students, but also workers of all ages and retired people are committing to renting instead of owning property for a variety of reasons.

Join CMS for the launch of our latest Thought Leadership Report and a panel debate which will consider the factors driving the growth of ‘beds for rents’ across student, co-living, PRS/BTR and senior housing. We will explore the expectations and preferences of consumers in terms of pricing, location and amenities. At an industry level, we will discuss whether rented accommodation should be viewed within one investment framework and what a successful ‘living’ strategy could look like. Our panellists are all leaders in the sphere of residential alternatives in Scotland:

  • Alan Bennett, Director (Healthcare), JLL
  • Robin Blacklock, Vice Chairman, SPF Policy Committee Managing Director, Dowbrae Property Consultancy
  • Craig Inglis, Chief Executive & Founder, Structured House Group
  • Bruce Patrick, Director and Head of Mixed Development in Scotland, Savills

Our Thought Leadership Report, which has been produced in conjunction with FTI Consulting, considers housing pressures in six key cities: London, Berlin, Amsterdam, Paris, Manchester and Glasgow. Through a major census of almost 6,500 people, we uncover the opinions of both property professionals and consumers on rented accommodation. As well as looking at residential alternatives, we will also deliver insights into more general market trends across real estate.
