Webinar: Employment Lunchtime Online Spring Series

Past event
21 March 2018, 12:15 - 13:00 UTC +00:00

The CMS Employment team are hosting their Spring ‘Lunchtime Online Series’. This series covers two key issues this year: the changes to the rules on taxation of termination payments and the gig economy.

Taxation of termination payments

Date: 7 March 2018

Time: 12.15 - 13.00 GMT

While we are light on employment law legislation this year, one important change which all employers must get to grips with comes in April, with amendments to the taxation of termination payments.

Despite the stated intention to simplify the rules, some aspects are undoubtedly more complicated than the current system, and will need to be understood by employers before offering termination payments.

In this practical session, Anthony Fincham is joined by Nicholas Stretch, partner in our tax team specialising in employee incentives, to discuss the new rules and how they apply to employers.

Employment status: the lay of the land

Date: 21 March 2018

Time: 12.15 - 13.00 GMT

In this session Sarah Ozanne is joined by our guest speaker Tarun Tawakley, Head of Employment Law and Commercial Litigation for Deliveroo.

Tarun and Sarah will discuss recent case law regarding worker status in the gig economy, including Deliveroo’s recent success before the Central Arbitration Committee, and touch on topical issues arising out of the Government response to the Taylor Review.
