CMS bolsters London Tax offering with partner promotion

22/06/2016

CMS is pleased to announce the promotion of Anna Burchner to a partner in the firm’s London tax team.

Anna has been a senior associate in the CMS Tax team since 2005 and is noted for her expertise in both international and domestic tax, particularly funds and financial services related work. She has significant experience on the tax structuring of high-value, multi-jurisdictional transactions, advising banks, funds, investors and sponsors on investment issues. Additionally Anna holds an LLM in International and EU Tax from the University of Leiden.

Richard Croker, Head of Corporate Tax at CMS, comments; “Anna has long been a valued member of our team and we are delighted to see her well-deserved promotion to partner. It remains crucial that we have a strong and successful tax team which can support the firm, and in particular play a key role in the firm’s biggest transactions across corporate, banking, real estate, energy and other areas. Anna is a dedicated Tax specialist with a wealth of experience, and will bring energy and enthusiasm to her new role.”

Anna adds, “I am delighted for the support given to me by the CMS partners and am excited to be joining the partner team at this time. I trust my promotion will further CMS’ efforts to provide first-class service to its international client base in an increasingly challenging cross-border tax environment”

Anna’s appointment enhances an already dynamic team. The Tax department has seen two partner promotions over the past five years; Samantha Dames, a specialist in banking and finance taxation and Aaron Fairhurst who was named in the Tax Journal’s 40 under 40 tax professionals in 2015.
