CMS boosts Corporate practice with appointment to Private Equity team

3 October 2017

International law firm CMS has appointed Peter Lewis as a partner in its Corporate Private Equity team in London. He joins the firm from White & Case where he was Counsel in the Global Mergers & Acquisitions practice.

Peter is a private equity specialist with over 10 years’ experience advising mid-market financial sponsors, portfolio companies and management teams including Bridgepoint, Mid Europa, Montagu and Oaktree. He advises on all forms of leveraged buyout, equity investment and structuring, consortia arrangements, reorganisations, refinancings, bolt-on acquisitions, management incentive schemes and related portfolio company matters.

James Grimwood, Corporate partner and Head of Private Equity for CMS comments: “Peter is a great addition to the team and will no doubt prove to be a real asset as we continue to expand across the full breadth of the midmarket, and to tap into the large-cap segment, to strengthen our market-leading position. Despite a number of unprecedented global developments, the private equity market has enjoyed another solid year which has kept the team incredibly busy. Peter’s arrival will ensure that we can meet the strong level of demand from our clients as we head into the last quarter of 2017.”

Commenting on his appointment, Peter said: “I am delighted to be joining CMS at a time of real growth for the firm in the UK and globally. CMS’ international footprint combined with its increased sector strength in areas such as TMT and leisure following the merger with Nabarro and Olswang provide a great platform to develop my practice."
