International law firm Olswang has advised iconic brand Hard Rock International on its collaboration with London's largest owner-operator hotel company, glh Hotels, to launch the inaugural Hard Rock Hotel in London.

Scheduled for completion in summer 2018, the Hard Rock Hotel London will result from the conversion and re-branding of the existing Cumberland Hotel, which is situated in one of the most desirable locations in the capital, overlooking Hyde Park and offering convenient access to some of London's most notable attractions. It will continue to be operated by glh Hotels but under the Hard Rock brand.

Josh Littman, VP of Development (EMEA) for Hard Rock International commented: "Olswang's deep understanding of the hotel and leisure sector, appreciation of our history and brand, and industry-leading corporate and franchising expertise were invaluable - we very much appreciate Nick, Joel and the team's hard work and advice throughout the entire process."

Corporate Partner Nick Crosbie commented: "The Hard Rock brand is absolutely iconic, and there's no doubt that this unique hotel, synonymous with stylish design and an appetite for fantastic music, will be as popular with London patrons and tourists as it is in its many other locations across the globe. It was a pleasure advising Hard Rock on this transaction, and we're delighted that we could assist in ensuring a smooth completion - we very much look forward to both working with the team on future ventures, and of course, visiting the hotel in 2018."

The Olswang team comprised Corporate Partner Nick Crosbie and IP Partner and Head of Franchising, Joel Vertes.

Representing glh Hotels were lawyers from Taylor Wessing LLP.
