International technology, media and telecoms law firm Olswang has advised private equity house Lyceum Capital on agriculture business information company Briefing Media Group's acquisition of Global Data Systems (GDS).

Global Data Systems is Briefing Media’s first acquisition since Lyceum Capital’s investment in July 2015. Bolstering its news and data offering, Briefing Media will integrate and develop GDS' two platforms, FeedInfo, a source of news and premium intelligence for the meat, biotechnology and animal feed sectors, and FlexNews, a news service for senior executives working at multinationals in the global food industry.

Leading the Olswang team was Corporate Partner Katie Nagy de Nagybaczon, who commented: "This deal is indicative of the positive impact that the Lyceum Capital team's expertise and capital investment has had on driving an ambitious, cohesive growth strategy for Briefing Media. As the company's first acquisition since we advised on Lyceum Capital’s initial backing and management buyout last year, we are delighted to have assisted in closing such a significant transaction for both the group and investor. This acquisition secures an important source of market intelligence for the group, perfectly complementing the existing investment-focussed analytics offering and enabling it to target fast-growing sectors in the agriculture industry.

Corporate Partner Katie Nagy de Nagybaczon was supported on this transaction by Corporate Associate Christian Spelzini.

Representing Briefing Media were lawyers from TLT LLP and Granrut Avocats (France).
