Penelope Warne recognised for second consecutive year as one of "Britain's 500 most influential" in 2016

25/01/2016

CMS’ Senior Partner and Head of Energy, Penelope Warne, is recognised in The Sunday Times “Britain’s 500 Most Influential” for the second year running.

Penelope is one of only 20 in the “law” category and also the only City Senior Partner to be recognised alongside Judges, QCs and Human Rights activists.

The Sunday Times says of the list compiled by Debretts: “What all the people on this list … have in common is that through a combination of talent, originality, hard work, persistence, courage, and occasionally, good luck they have earned the right to make a difference.”

Penelope joined the firm in 1993 to set up the Aberdeen office and has a strong growth track record. In twenty years, she has transformed CMS’ practice in Scotland from one person in Aberdeen to the market leading practice in Scotland due to the merger with Dundas & Wilson in 2014. As the Energy practice group leader, she opened offices in Aberdeen, Edinburgh, Brazil, Mexico and Dubai. Her practice spans the globe advising clients in the oil and gas industry in the North Sea, the US, Norway, Brazil, EMEA and Russia. Currently one of only two female senior partners in the top 20 law firms, Warne advises clients working across Europe, the Americas, the Middle East and Russia, and also trains oil industry lawyers at Dundee University.
