Caroline is a partner in the Pensions Team at CMS London. Qualifying as a solicitor over 12 years ago, in Australia, Caroline has almost 10 years of experience in pensions law. She has experience in corporate transactions, in the distressed context as well as disposals and outsourcings, she also has years of experience advising trustee clients and corporates on the day to day running of defined benefit pension schemes. She has a particular interest in de-risking products and cutting edge investments. Caroline has worked on a number of asset-backed funding structures, longevity swaps and buy-ins.

Caroline graduated with a Science/Law degree (Hons) from Macquarie University, Sydney, Australia. She subsequently completed her Masters in Law at the University of New South Wales. Caroline practiced at Herbert Smith Freehills prior to relocating to a magic circle firm in London in 2008. She is qualified as an Australian solicitor, and also in England and Wales.

  • A global conglomerate in relation to the impact of a disposal of the financial services arm on a number of UK defined pension schemes, including negotiating the triennial valuation of two schemes (with assets in excess of GBP 1bn).
  • An IT company on the pensions aspects of a market leading outsourcing agreement.
  • A French IT company on the closure of its defined benefit pension schemes to future accrual.
  • A UK insurer on the development of an innovative longevity product and the negotiation of the contracts on behalf of the provider with the trustees of the pension scheme.
