The Gov­ern­ment has launched a con­sulta­tion seek­ing com­ment in re­la­tion to pro­posed changes to al­ler­gen in­form­a­tion on pre-packed foods (link be­low). The pro­posed amend­ments would ap­ply to both the do­mest­ic Food In­form­a­tion Reg­u­la­tions 2014 (Eng­land) and par­al­lel.

On 28 Septem­ber 2018 a West Lon­don Cor­on­er con­cluded that Nata­sha Ed­nan- Laperouse died of Ana­phyl­ax­is after eat­ing a baguette con­tain­ing ses­ame to which she was al­ler­gic. In his con­clu­sion Dr Sean Cum­mings said he would write to the Gov­ern­ment to raise con­cerns.

The Gov­ern­ment has an­nounced the cre­ation of a new Of­fice for Product Safety and Stand­ards, fol­low­ing a re­com­mend­a­tion made by the Work­ing Group on Product Re­calls and Safety, a group of product and fire safety spe­cial­ists that was es­tab­lished in Oc­to­ber 2016.
