Mark is Of Counsel in the Employment team. He advises on all aspects of employment law. He “is an outstanding legal practitioner in the field of U.K. labor and employment law. Mark has particular expertise in the employment and pensions implications of business transfers, outsourcings, restructurings, and other corporate and real estate transactions, and drafting and negotiating the relevant employment indemnities and risk sharing mechanisms He also has considerable experience of advising on staff transfers from the public sector. He has worked on many reorganisations/restructurings, including those with an international element.Relevant ExperienceAdvised public authorities, private sector contractors and funders on the employment/pensions aspects of various PFI/PPP projects in the health, street lighting, education, and waste sectors, in both England and Scotland.Advised a multinational on a pan-European efficiency/rationalisation project. Advised three universities on the transfer of research units from the Medical Research Council, where the main issues were communications with the MRC's unions, post-transfer terms & conditions, and allocation of equal pay risk. Advised a local authority on the employment and pension law aspects of setting up an LLP vehicle to provide education management services to LLP members. Advised on the employment aspects of the purchase of a services company within the global energy industry. There were complicated issues to analyse, including the threat of strike action and holiday entitlement for North Sea workers. Advised a bank on the employment aspects of the termination of its joint venture with an insurance company and the successor distribution arrangements being put in its place. Advised a Florida corporation on the employment implications of taking over a hotel chain’s European booking/reservation function. Advised on a “class action” employment tribunal claim against a social housing company.
