Melanie is Of Counsel in the Intellectual Property team. She has nearly 15 years’ IP experience advising clients across a range of sectors including fashion, technology and real estate.

Melanie specialises in brand protection and advises clients on both contentious and non-contentious matters.  Her practice covers a wide range of work, including clearance of brand names, management of international filing programmes and protection of trade mark rights, dealing with day to day management of global trade mark portfolios including overseas oppositions and disputes, policing major brands, bringing and defending opposition, invalidation and cancellation proceedings, dealing with domain name disputes and general IP infringement issues. She has extensive experience of and expertise in company name policing, including frequent use of the UK Company Names Tribunal for a range of clients.

Melanie also advises on the commercialisation of intellectual property and co-branding arrangements, with a particular focus on the real estate sector, and the IP aspects of corporate and real estate transactions.
