CMS Hungary celebrates 30 years on the market

This year, 2019, marks the 30th anniversary of CMS in Hungary. Started as a two-person firm, CMS is now the largest law firm in Hungary, with more than 75 lawyers, 11 partners and a staff of over 50 people.

Since our start in 1989, CMS Hungary has ambitiously broadened its legal offerings to the local and regional business community, and is now a full-service law firm, providing an expansive range of expertise across 19 legal-practice and sector areas, including specialised fields such as cybersecurity, AI, auto-tech, and Fin-tech.

"The rapid growth of our specialised groups did not affect the quality of our over all performance," says former CMS Hungary managing partner Gabriella Ormai. "We lead the market in most of our practise areas. No other law firm has had as many number one rankings in independent legal directories as we have had.”

During this historic year, CMS celebrated another significant milestone when Erika Papp, the long-standing Head of CMS's Banking & Finance team, became CMS Hungary's Managing Partner, replacing Gabriella Ormai, who had been at the helm since 1999.

According to CMS Hungary's new leader, Erika Papp, the firm is stronger than ever, and ready to meet the challenges of the future. "The last two years have been particularly rewarding for our firm," says Papp. "Besides being ranked best of the best, we also won the prestigious Chambers Law Firm of the Year award for the third time. But despite our leading position in the market, we have no intention of sitting on our laurels. We have a busy year ahead of us with several high-prestige mandates and transactions in the pipeline. In many ways, the times have never been better for both CMS and Hungary.”
