Péter Simon is a partner at CMS’s Budapest Office, heading the Energy, Projects and Construction practice in Hungary.

Péter has worked on various energy, infrastructure, industrial and other construction projects including the development and acquisition of power plants, petrochemical manufacturing units, and international gas transmission pipelines. Péter has negotiated several long-term electricity, gas and heat supply and off-take agreements. Péter has also worked on several projects advising clients on the development of the strategic storage of natural gas in Hungary. He has advised major global energy companies on the acquisition and development of both conventional and renewable energy projects.

  • Green Source on the acquisition of multiple SPVs and PV projects in several locations in Hungary, one of the largest photovoltaic acquisitions in the Hungarian market.
  • Enlight Renewable Energy on the acquisition of a company holding a green premium subsidy entitlement (METÁR) of 20 MW as well as on the financing of this acquisition.
  • A major energy company on the acquisition of solar power plants in Hungary.
  • A major energy company on the development of various solar plants in the CEE.
  • MOL Nyrt. (MSZKSZ), the company designated by law for the safety stockpiling of natural gas, on the construction, operation and financing of an underground natural gas reservoir of 1.9 bn cubic meter capacity, the largest of its kind in CEE.
  • Budapesti Power Plant, a subsidiary of EDF, on the development of two separate CCGT power plants with an installed capacity of 110 MW each and on upgrading its existing generation facilities.
  • DÉMÁSZ, a Hungarian electricity distribution system operator and a subsidiary of EDF, on energy regulatory and general commercial matters on a day-to-day basis, including representation in the judicial supervision of network usage fees.

Engie SA - on the acquisition of a limited natural gas trading.
