Matthias Eck advises German and international clients on all intellectual property and unfair competition law matters. He focuses on patent, trademark, copyright and competition law, advises on and negotiates research, development, licence and cooperation agreements and also represents his clients in infringement proceedings. Matthias has special sector expertise and regularly works for companies in the automotive, mechanical engineering, medical technology and media (print and digital) industries as well as for marketing and advertising clients. His practice also includes protection of known-how and industrial espionage cases.

Matthias joined CMS in 1992 and became a partner in 1996. He is a honorary professor in intellectual property and competition law at the Martin Luther University in Halle-Wittenberg, deputy chairman of the southwest division of the German Association for the Protection of Intellectual Property (GRUR) and also a member of GRUR‘s Specialist Committee for Trademark and Competition Law and for Utility Model Law. Furthermore, he is the author of numerous publications on intellectual property and competition law.
