Matthias Lichtblau is Executive Director at CMS since December 2013. In his role, he oversees all international operations of CMS and its ten member firms. In particular, he focuses on the following areas: cross-border business development, marketing & communications, business technology/IT, human resources, training and development as well as financial planning and budgeting. Matthias reports directly to the Executive Chairman of CMS and works closely with the CMS Executive Committee. He is based in Frankfurt, Germany.

Projects run by Matthias include developing specific programmes for panel and key clients, coordinating and supporting international pitching, managing the CMS corporate identity and brand (including the CMS digital presence and social media), running CMS-wide public relations campaigns, developing strategic IT systems (including, the conflict check database), creating international training programmes for partners and associates as well as planning the CMS Partners’ Annual Meeting for the more than 800 CMS partners.

Before taking on his current position, Matthias was Director of Business Development and Communications at CMS Germany. Matthias joined CMS in 2007. Prior to this, he spent seven years at Clifford Chance where he was a member of the European Regional Management team and Head of Business Development for Germany.
