April 2012 newsletter

15/04/2012

The goal of our newsletter is to keep you abreast of recent legal and tax developments in the various areas where our firm has recognised expertise.

Editorial

As a business law firm, we see it as our duty to keep you informed of trends and developments in legal matters so you can better appraise whether action or further analysis is necessary.

Beside such articles as the ones on the closure of applications for ICANN’s new Top Level Domains, the new law on squeeze out procedures in non listed companies or the famous new regulation on the company cars, the present edition turns its attention to trends and events across different law practices. This is the case in IP where we put the spotlight on an interesting evolution in the jurisprudence of the High Court regarding copyright protected works or in Banking & Finance, with the surprising withdrawal from Parliament of a draft law related to the pledge over moveable assets.

This edition contains also a new chapter, dedicated to transport related issues. At CMS DeBacker, we have decided indeed to involve ourselves into a reflexion path, along with professionals of transport industry and academic researchers, aiming to identify the desirable legal developments to address the transport sector’s many challenges. For more information on our initiative, please see: www.transport2012.be.
