Internships and student assistants

Even a career in providing international legal advice starts with acquiring practical experience.

The CMS summer internships take place over the summer months. You will work intensively within one or more practice areas during an internship. Therefore, you must be at an advanced stage of your studies or have already completed your degree.
You can apply starting from April for an internship commencing in July the same year. We need to receive your documents latest by the end of May.

We also employ talented students in student assistant positions, starting from students who are at the start of their legal studies for general tasks on a minor employment basis to PhD students, who wish to gain practical experience alongside their doctorate on a part-time basis.

Junior Associates

You have a law degree with an outstanding academic record, are fluent in business English and possibly even possess an LL.M. or post-doc. If this is the case, then endless opportunities are open to you at CMS.

Professional competence is a key requirement to being successful at our firm. However, it is equally important to us that you can easily blend into our team.

Along with your passion for legal work, you should also aim to convince us with your personality, as well as your team working and entrepreneurial skills. In order to be a successful lawyer, it is also important that you communicate effectively, are diligent and conscientious in your work, whilst exhibiting a high level of resilience as well as being receptive to criticism.

We take our role as educators very seriously, which is why alongside conventional courses, you will also be expected to participate in practice area-specific seminars and meetings of CMS-wide Practice Area Groups, allowing you to increase your personal networks within CMS.

Our secondment programmes, allowing trainees to gain experience in other CMS partner firms offer an excellent opportunity to expand one’s horizon.
