CMS assists Koppers with purchase of Cindu Chemicals

Koppers International BV has acquired Cindu Chemicals BV from joint owners Cindu BV and Corus Staal BV. A team from CMS Derks Star Busmann advised Koppers on environmental law aspects in connection with the acquisition.

Koppers International BV is a 100% subsidiary of Koppers Holdings Inc., a worldwide integrated producer of carbon compounds and wood preservatives. This acquisition strengthens Koppers' presence in Europe in this product sector.

Cindu's operations and end markets are similar to those of Koppers. The company achieved a turnover of 50 million euros in 2008. It has a 140,000-tonne tar distillation plant in Uithoorn as well as storage tanks in the port of Rotterdam.
