CMS strengthens dispute resolution team in Poland

6 September 2017

Anna Cudna-Wagner, legal advisor with more than 15 years of litigation experience, has been promoted to partner at CMS. In her new role in the Dispute Resolution Department, she will be responsible primarily for acting for clients from the banking sector in commercial and civil disputes before state courts and arbitration tribunals.

Anna Cudna-Wagner also specialises in court proceedings concerning Competition Law. Therefore, she will also coordinate this area of the firm's dispute resolution practice and cooperate with our Competition team led by Małgorzata Urbańska.

Before joining CMS in May 2017, Anna Cudna-Wagner worked for over 4 years at Linklaters where she represented clients from various sectors of the economy and specifically the financial institutions sector in litigious proceedings. She is recommended each year by Chambers and Legal 500 in the area of litigious proceedings.

Along with Anna Cudna-Wagner, advocate Bartosz Miąskiewicz has joined the CMS dispute resolution team. He specialises in litigation concerning financial institutions and broadly understood commercial contract law. He has represented clients in commercial disputes as well as in individual and group proceedings initiated by consumers concerning financial products before state and arbitration courts as well as the Supreme Court.

CMS has one of the largest and most experienced litigation teams in Poland that specialises in court and arbitration proceedings. Małgorzata Surdek leads the 18-lawyer team, which represents clients in commercial and investment arbitration proceedings as well as in national and international court proceedings concerning various areas of civil and business law (e.g. disputes concerning unfair competition, corporate, construction, public procurement, regulatory and employment-related disputes, as well as disputes concerning the protection of intellectual property). CMS lawyers are also involved in proceedings before administrative courts, criminal proceedings (specifically within the scope of white collar crimes) as well as enforcement proceedings. CMS has for many years been recommended in international rankings as one of the best teams on the Polish market (Tier 1 in Legal500 and Band 2 in Chambers & Partners).

In the last two months CMS also acquired other experienced lawyers and has significantly strengthened other key teams, including the Energy, Banking and Real Estate Departments. Agnieszka Skorupińska, with more than 10 years of experience in Environmental Law, has joined CMS from the Dentons Warsaw office and Ilona Fedurek, an advocate specialising in financing transactions and advisory services for the banking sector (previously White & Case), has joined the Banking and Finance Department. The Real Estate Practice has in turned been strengthened by Katarzyna Dębińska-Pietrzyk, an advocate with over 15 years of experience in real estate transactions who joined from Baker McKenzie.
