Up­date: Pen­sion sys­tem in Po­land - are fun­da­ment­al changes up­com­ing?
Law­makers in Po­land are work­ing on a draft law aimed at in­tro­du­cing fun­da­ment­al changes to the Pol­ish pen­sion sys­tem. Ac­cord­ing to the draft law, the new pro­vi­sions are sched­uled to come in­to force on 1 Novem­ber 2019 (with cer­tain ex­cep­tions).
Po­lan­d's new anti-usury laws put on hold by the European Com­mis­sion
Pol­ish law­makers’ ef­forts to pass new fast-tracked anti-usury meas­ures (the “Draft Law”) have been re­cently thwarted by the no­ti­fic­a­tion pro­ced­ure set out in EU Dir­ect­ive 2015/1535. The Draft Law was ini­tially sched­uled to be en­acted by the end of Ju­ly, how­ever.

Re­cently, Pol­ish Pres­id­ent of the Of­fice of Com­pet­i­tion and Con­sumer Pro­tec­tion (“OC­CP”) has pub­lished a com­mu­niqué re­gard­ing the mys­tery shop­ping re­view that the Pres­id­ent un­der­take at the end of 2018.
Pen­sion sys­tem in Po­land – up­com­ing changes?
The Pol­ish gov­ern­ment has re­cently no­ti­fied of its plan to trans­fer all the as­sets ac­cu­mu­lated in the privately man­aged part of the pen­sion sys­tem known as OFEs (ca. EUR 38 bil­lion) to in­di­vidu­al pen­sion ac­counts (IKEs).
Po­land to tight­en anti-usury law
Re­cently, the Min­istry of Justice came for­ward with a draft law in­tro­du­cing new anti-usury meas­ures. The draft law is cur­rently un­der the pro­cess of eval­u­ation by rel­ev­ant au­thor­it­ies, be­fore it is pro­ceeded by the Pol­ish Par­lia­ment.
Po­land to strengthen su­per­vi­sion over for­eign in­surers
The Pol­ish gov­ern­ment in­tends to in­tro­duce changes to ex­ist­ing in­sur­ance reg­u­la­tions con­cern­ing for­eign EU in­surers op­er­at­ing in Po­land.     The pro­posed changes would:   in­tro­duce a pro­vi­sion based on which the dead­lines for the pay­ment of com­pens­a­tion.
Po­land pre­pares for a hard Brexit

On 29 Janu­ary 2019, the Pol­ish Fin­an­cial Su­per­vi­sion Au­thor­ity (“PF­SA”) pub­lished a gen­er­al note on Brexit (avail­able here). The com­mu­niqué relates to Po­land’s fin­an­cial mar­ket and is the first of­fi­cial Brexit-re­lated an­nounce­ment is­sued by the PF­SA.
