Marius is a Senior Associate in the LAIE CMS team in Romania. As a member of the Bucharest Bar, Marius offers clients a valuable combination of technical expertise and business acumen. With an LL.M. from McGill University on protection of trade secrets, and a Ph.D. in Law from Bucharest University on aspects related to protection of information, Marius has devoted a significant part of his research interests to various legal aspects concerning protection of personal data.

Having a particular focus on employment, data protection and IP, Marius has broad advisory experience in drafting and negotiating individual and collective labour agreements, non-competes and confidentiality covenants, and in advising on transfer of employees, benefits packages, amiable settlements, termination and labour litigation proceedings, as well as on a full range of personal data protection issues.  Marius is a contributor to national and international legal publications, writing on a variety of matters, such as access to public information, protection of information and trade secrets, or trademarks protection. 

Marius has been a registered trademarks attorney with Romanian Office for Inventions and Trademarks since 2004 and with the European Union Intellectual Property Office (EUIPO, formerly known as OHIM) since 2007.

In late 2018, the Ro­mani­an Su­preme Court is­sued an un­ex­pec­ted rul­ing de­crim­in­al­ising the pro­cur­ing of products with psy­cho­act­ive ef­fects, by a fi­nal con­sumer, for per­son­al use. In its rul­ing, the Su­preme Court held that the act of pro­cur­ing products sus­pec­ted.
Ro­mania in­creases non-EU em­ploy­ees an­nu­al quota amid work­force short­age

GDPR im­ple­ment­a­tion in Ro­mania
On 25 May 2018 the Gen­er­al Data Pro­tec­tion Reg­u­la­tion (GDPR) came in­to force in the EU. As a res­ult, the Ro­mani­an Par­lia­ment and the Ro­mani­an Data Pro­tec­tion Au­thor­ity (RDPA), had to cre­ate le­gis­la­tion to im­ple­ment the GDPR in Ro­mania.
