Jozef Čupa

Jozef Čupa is a senior associate and member of the German Desk at the CMS office in Bratislava. At CMS, Jozef Čupa focuses on financial transactions, representing clients in various financing projects as well as on financial regulation in areas such as banking, payment services, securities or collective investment. He also regularly advises clients, mostly foreign-based companies, on a wide range of employment-related issues. In employment law, he focuses specifically on the transfer of rights and obligations from employment relationships (TUPE transfers). Throughout his practice, Jozef Čupa has also gained significant experience in advising pharmaceutical companies on various aspects of drug and medical devices regulations, in particular when dealing with health care providers. Prior to joining CMS, Jozef Čupa practised as an attorney-at-law at a large international law firm specialising in corporate, banking and employment law. He also worked for the Slovak National Bank, where he focused on the legal regulation of payment services and banking. He was also closely involved in the process of transposing the revised Payment Services Directive (PSD2) into the Slovak Act on Payment Services.

In Janu­ary 2019 Slov­akia in­tro­duced sev­er­al changes to the em­ploy­ment law. These changes mainly re­late to main­tain­ing con­fid­en­ti­al­ity of work­ing con­di­tions and provid­ing ob­lig­at­ory con­tri­bu­tions for em­ploy­ee re­cre­ation.
