CMS in Slovenia

01/01/2015

In 2007, CMS Reich-Rohrwig Hainz opened an office in Ljubljana. Slovenia was the first country of the former Yugoslavia to join the EU and introduce the euro. Its legal system was thoroughly reformed to meet EU requirements. Some fields such as corporate law were created from scratch using Austrian and German legislation as models and have since developed in parallel with Austrian standards due to the shared legal tradition of the two countries. Moreover, many companies’ owners, especially in Serbia and Croatia, are from Slovenia, strengthening the country’s economic influence in the region.

This background, together with the continuous elimination of investment barriers, has made Slovenia an interesting target for investors from Austria, Germany, France and the USA. As an Austrian law firm, CMS Reich-Rohrwig Hainz is in a particularly good position to understand the country’s culture and mentality. Our common history enables us to pave the way for our clients to access this growing economy and successfully implement their projects.
