CMS has added 31 partners across 22 offices globally, in addition to two director appointments in Scotland. Women represent over 39% of the firm’s promotions, spread across a number of practice areas and jurisdictions.
With effect from 1 May, Stephen Millar becomes CMS’ new UK Managing Partner and Duncan Weston starts his new role as CMS Executive Partner for Global Development.
Penelope Warne, the Senior Partner of CMS UK, comments: “It is an exciting time at CMS as we welcome our new partners and as Stephen and Duncan start their new roles. We are all looking forward to focusing on the growth and development of our clients and the firm. Our special thanks to Duncan for all he has done for the firm as a strong, successful and inspirational leader.
“With our new partners, I am encouraged to see the breadth of talent rising up across the firm. It is also very good to see the female representation of our global promotions remaining high and spanning a number of our core jurisdictions and sectors, a reflection of the inclusive culture we are proud of at CMS.”
CMS Executive Chairman Cornelius Brandi adds, “Expanding and deepening our expertise so that we can deliver a first-class client service is key to CMS’ future success. With the naming of 31 new partners in 22 offices, we continue to ensure that our clients receive the support they need, both in their own jurisdictions and across borders.”

The LSU currently comprises 30 paralegals, located in Glasgow and Edinburgh, and in the three years since its launch has more than tripled in size.
The LSU was set up in response to the needs of CMS’ clients who wanted innovative resourcing solutions and better value from their legal advisers, particularly around the resourcing of repeat, volume and process led legal work. The team provides legal support services to CMS lawyers and clients in the UK and internationally.
