Robert is a partner in the Technology, Media & Telecommunications Department with over 10 years of international experience supporting the delivery of private and public sector technology and communications projects.Since relocating to the Middle East in 2011, Robert has been engaged on numerous projects including mobile network procurements and rollouts, managed services outsourcing for mobile operators, business process outsourcings and tower sale and lease-back initiatives. Most recently, Robert spent time on secondment working with one of the largest mobile, telecoms and media services providers in the UAE, as a key part of their technology and procurement legal team.Robert is a regular participant at industry events and enjoys sharing trends, experiences and best practices with participants in MENA's vibrant and ever changing telecoms industry.

  • A leading Middle Eastern mobile operator on the commercial documentation across a range of high value, business critical projects involving the procurement of technology, media and product related services as well as providing day to day advice as part of their technology and procurement legal team.
  • One of the region’s leading telecommunication operators on a procurement programme for technology services valued at over USD 200 million, including the preparation of a master services agreement and full suite of schedules for the delivery of the services in accordance with international best practice service levels.
  • A leading Middle Eastern mobile operator on a managed services outsourcing of their entire network operations, including drafting and negotiating the legal terms and conditions and the full suite of schedules for the delivery of the operation and maintenance services to ensure the achievement of agreed network KPIs and in accordance with agreed service levels.
  • One of Saudia Arabia’s leading telecommunication operators on its multi-million dollar Strategic Sourcing of the application development and maintenance functions for its customer care and billing platform.
  • A regional government entity on its network procurement and installation arrangements for the development of a VLAN and WAN across a number of sites.
  • The government organisation responsible for the development of the Expo 2020 site on their telecoms and systems services arrangements for the procurement and installation of the entire mobile and Wi-Fi network for the Expo 2020 site.
  • An international mobile services provider in relation to a dispute in Qatar concerning its tower sale and lease back arrangements with an international telecommunications company.
  • A Middle Eastern mobile operator on a series of arrangements for the outsourcing of its retail, promotions and accounting functions to a leading UAE retail conglomerate. 
  • Emirates Airlines on its procurement of a fully managed ERP system.
  • Expo 2020 on their telecoms and systems services arrangements for the Expo 2020 site network.
  • Etihad Airlines on its digital transformation programme with IBM.
  • Saudi Telecom Company on the Strategic Sourcing of their application development and maintenance functions for their customer care and billing platform.
  • Both international and Middle Eastern based clients across a number of different sectors in relation to arrangements for the licensing and protection of copyright, trademarks and patents, the purchase, sale and assignment of IP rights and the cross-licensing of IP assets.
  • International clients on the application of UAE legislation to the drafting of commercial contracts, as well as on specific matters related to UAE legislation such as: the UAE Penal Code; Data Privacy and Cyber Crime Laws and Regulations (both inside and outside UAE free zones); the Electronic Transactions and Commerce Law; the Telecommunications Law; and various Regulations issued by both the Telecommunications Authority and the UAE Central Bank.
