01/09/2020

The highly skilled expert in the field of Banking & Finance, Marcell Clark, joins CMS in Vienna. His expertise and international experience – having worked for many years in New York, Budapest and Bratislava – make him the perfect fit for CMS.

I am delighted to join the Vienna office of CMS. For me, the firm's office in Vienna is a perfect platform: it brings together an excellent reputation, an international network and a highly qualified team of legal professionals. By physically being here in Vienna, I will be able to provide legal services and help our clients in person whenever the need arises,” says Clark.

Marcell Clark has over 25 years of experience in cross-border financing and real estate transactions. He has worked for Jones Day Reavis & Pogue and at TIAA – one of the largest American pension funds – in New York and he is not new to the CEE/SEE region as he has worked for Dentons in both Budapest and Bratislava. In the course of his career he advised numerous renowned monetary institutions and banks on corporate loans, energy sector loans, property acquisitions, joint ventures, real estate loan restructurings as well as mezzanine financing. Furthermore, he is a member of the New York bar and qualified as a solicitor (Senior Courts of England and Wales).

CMS strengthens Banking & Finance practice with three new hires in 2020

Marcell represents the ideal addition to our team – his experience and qualifications in English law will benefit our clients greatly. We are very proud to have won such a distinguished expert for Austria and CEE,” says Günther Hanslik, CMS Partner and Head of Banking & Finance in Vienna.

Marcell Clark’s joining of the CMS Vienna Banking & Finance Team following two earlier parallel hires on the partner level (Stefan Paulmayer and Walter Gapp) is a very strong signal towards further strengthening the Banking & Finance Practice.

A broad-based international academic education preceded his professional career. He received his bachelor’s degree in German with Highest Honours at the University of Kansas and his Juris Doctor degree at the Georgetown University Law Center.
