The current issue of the industry magazine JUVE is dedicated to Austria's best law firms for employment law. CMS remains the undisputed leader in the ranking of law firms for employment law. As one lawyer colleague is quoted as saying, CMS has "the best team for employment law in Austria".
Partner Dr Bernhard Hainz, who features in the firm's name CMS Reich-Rohrwig Hainz, and honorary professor Dr Christoph Wolf, both of them heading the specialist Employment and Pension Law Department, are clearly delighted about being recognised by the renowned industry magazine. "It is a great honour for us to feature once again as a leading name in Austrian employment law," says Bernhard Hainz. "We are particularly pleased, however, that JUVE expressly recognises the work of our younger colleagues," adds Christoph Wolf.
JUVE specifically mentions Dr Andrea Potz, who was recently made a partner and has attracted attention with numerous proceedings before the European Court of Justice, and the former HR manager of Wiener Stadtwerke, Dr Andreas Jöst, who has made a name for himself particularly in designing and implementing working time models. Partner and employee data protection expert Dr Jens Winter is also often recommended on the market.
"What makes our team stand out in particular is its academic background and its passion for employment law," explains Christoph Wolf. It is this combination that turns all team members into dedicated specialists. As JUVE states, it is true to say that there is barely a single employment law matter that the experienced CMS team is unable to address. "Although we never let a question go unanswered," says Bernhard Hainz with a laugh.
Both note that the team's ability to work well together was one of the reasons why they were able to handle the challenges of the COVID-19 crisis so smoothly. "The past few weeks and months have demonstrated just how quickly we are able to adapt to entirely new employment law matters," says Bernhard Hainz. "Even during the crisis, we managed to do scholarly work in addition to our consulting activities," comments Christoph Wolf and refers to the team's expert contributions in the German-language coronavirus handbook recently published by Prof. Reinhard Resch with Manz Verlag.
"We find it very rewarding to be able to impart and embody employment law expertise at the highest level across several generations," says Bernhard Hainz. "This blend of generations and specialisations enables us to keep abreast of current developments and to offer our clients comprehensive legal advice that looks to the future. We are delighted that the market also recognises this level of excellence," adds Christoph Wolf.
The JUVE employment law ranking is available in the July/August 2020 print edition as well as online.
