Döne Yalçın voted vice president of the Austrian-Turkish Business Cooperation Council:

working on further intensification of Turkish-Austrian business relations in yet another capacity

Döne Yalçın (35) is a local partner at CMS Vienna and head of the CMS office in Turkey. For years, she has been actively promoting the collaboration between Turkish and Austrian businesses in addition to working as an attorney-at-law. Recently, she has been voted vice president of the Austrian-Turkish Business Cooperation Council (ATBCC), assuming a further leading position in the improvement of the bilateral economic relations between the two countries.

“As an attorney-at-law working in both Austria and Turkey, I have gained a lot of experience during the past years in advising and representing Austrian companies entering the Turkish market and vice versa. Through this work I have won a lot of insight into the economic opportunities as well as potential problems these relations entail. Intensifying and improving business relations between these two countries has always been very important to me”, says Döne Yalçın. Apart from her linguistic and cultural knowledge, her extensive know-how about both jurisdictions (she advises clients on international business law, commercial and corporate law) has played a significant role in her nomination as vice president to the newly formed board of the ATBCC. Her long-standing commitment to this purpose is emphasised by the fact that she also serves as president of the Association of Austrian and Turkish Businesspeople and Industry (ATIS) and vice president of the Austrian Turkish Economic Forum (ÖTW).

Döne Yalçın has been part of the international CMS team in Vienna and has headed the law firm’s Turkish Desk since 2006. Since the establishment of a CMS location in Istanbul in 2013, she has also been in charge of heading it as a managing partner. Döne Yalçın is the only Austrian attorney-at-law who is also admitted to the Turkish bar. Apart from the mentioned areas, she also specialises in energy law, real estate law and building law.

The Austrian-Turkish Business Cooperation Council (ATBCC) was founded in July 1997 following a joint initiative of the Austrian Economic Chamber and the Union of Chambers and Commodity Exchanges of Turkey. The non-profit organisation aims at supporting and expanding the scope of economic cooperation between Austrian and Turkish entrepreneurs by helping companies, corporations, associations and other organisations to find new business partners or deepen existing corporate relationships.
