Electronic-only CTM certificates

17/12/2009

The Office for Harmonisation in the Internal Market (OHIM) in Alicante introduced a new system of electronic certificates (E-Certificates) on 9 December 2009 in a move to help reduce registration times for community trademarks (CTMs).

From this date, the office no longer issues paper certificates. The new E-Certificates have the same appearance and structure as paper certificates and also the same legal value.

CMS Reich-Rohrwig Hainz has also switched to this electronic system and our trademark specialists now provide their clients both with electronic versions of the certificates in pdf format and with paper copies.
