Julie specializes in insurance law and dispute resolution. By acting for a large number of national and international clients, Julie has gained particular knowledge and experience in all aspects of insurance law, with a special focus on cyber insurance, environmental liability, D&O, Construction All Risk, general liability and professional liability. In these fields Julie advises insurers and companies and assists them in disputes and litigation, negotiations and alternative dispute resolution.

Julie was admitted to the Antwerp Bar in 2015. She started her 3-year internship at a law firm specialized in insurance law and professional liability. Julie has been working at CMS since 2018.

Relevant experience

  • Assisting insurers and their insured in national and international court proceedings regarding liability and insurance claims (a.o. construction litigation, professional liability, etc.).
  • Insurance policy review (a.o. cyber, D&O, product liability, environmental liability, contamination, professional liability, Construction All Risk, product liability, etc.).
  • Litigation before Belgian courts, including coordination of criminal and civil proceedings.
  • Coverage advice to both insurers and corporates.
  • Advising insurers on the introduction of new (insurance) products to the market, including group insurance.
  • Assisting international insurers in their restructuring process (a.o. the set-up of branches across Europe).
