International law firm CMS is pleased to announce two leadership changes in Poland and Sofia. On 1 May, Andrzej Posniak and Kostadin Sirleshtov will become the Managing Partners of CMS Poland and CMS Sofia respectively.

Andrzej Pośniak started his career at CMS in 2003 and currently leads the firm's tax advisory team in Warsaw. He also manages the Central-Eastern European tax practice and is a member of the CMS global tax practice’s management team. Andrzej takes over the reins from Małgorzata Surdek, who will continue to lead the Litigation team in Poland, as well as focussing on her recent appointment to the International Court of Arbitration of the International Chamber of Commerce in Paris.

Ranked as one of the top Bulgarian energy experts, Kostadin Sirleshtov will take up the role of Managing Partner of CMS Sofia on 1 May, taking over from longstanding partner David Butts who is retiring from CMS at the end of the month. Kostadin is head of the firm’s Energy, Projects and Construction team in CEE and a standout name in the Bulgarian energy market. His particular area of expertise is in conventional, nuclear, renewables, oil & gas, infrastructure, projects, PPP, public procurement, underground resources.

In addition to these leadership changes, 1 May marks the promotion of five new partners across the CEE region. The new partners are: Łukasz Dynysiuk (Corporate/M&A, Tax – Warsaw), Marek Oleksyn (Intellectual Property - Warsaw), Tetyana Dovgan (Corporate/M&A – Kyiv), Petra Čorba Stark (Corporate/M&A – Bratislava) and Michal Hut'an (Real Estate, Energy & Infrastructure – Bratislava). Across the firm, CMS celebrated its largest-ever round of partner promotions, making up 49 new partners in 2019 across 23 cities globally. Progressing female talent has long been a strategic priority of the firm. In a strong showing, women accounted for 47% of all CMS partner promotions globally.
