In 2018, the European Commission published its Action Plan on Financing Sustainable Growth. Since then, sustainability has also become a central theme in corporate governance and the subject of many related European initiatives. 

Integrating sustainability aspects into corporate governance is now seen as an essential key to ensuring that companies strive for long-term sustainable value creation, rather than just focusing on short-term financial goals.

Management teams are increasingly being called upon to consider sustainability aspects in corporate strategy and to create corresponding structures in the area of governance & risk compliance.
